Ron Reynolds, a Texas state representative for District 27, was a keynote speaker at "Equality Texas." During his speech, he compared the inclusion of LGBT Texans to the Civil Rights Movement and encouraged students to “stand in solidarity with their (LGBT) brothers and sisters.” He ended with the phrase “Texas should never want to be like Indiana.”
Mary González, Texas state representative of House District 75 and the first openly pansexual elected official in the United States, was the opening speaker at “Call to Action.” González says “she doesn’t think Texas wants to be known as a state that isn’t welcoming for everybody.” She add it’s her goal that Texas will accept everybody, regardless of who they are or who they love.
“Rasta Fury” Lindsey Henderson, 34, adopted a dog, Rue, from Austin Pets Alive four months ago.
